Festival Faculty

The Festival of Steel Faculty serve as artists in residence for an entire week of devoted steel pan instruction. Our Faculty are among the most revered and experienced steel pan educators in the world. They bring with them new, original compositions and arrangements taught in a fully immersed, week-long rehearsal schedule. Only the Festival of Steel allows participants to learn from such world-class artists in such an informal setting!

DUVONE STEWART

Duvone Stewart will be returning for his fourth Festival of Steel. Champion arranger, in multiple categories and multiple countries, Duvone brings his talents from Trinidad by way of France all the way to Morgantown, WV. For one week in July, the Festival of Steel is honored to have Duvone Stewart back for the 2020 festival!

ANDY NARELL

Andy Narell returns for his 10th consecutive Festival of Steel appearance this summer. Andy will have new pieces sure to challenge the Advanced band and some beautiful arrangements guaranteed to delight all the participants throughout the week.

VICTOR PROVOST

Victor Provost will be joining us for his third festival in a row. Victor has worked with countless musicians, including Grammy award-winning artists, from all around the world and has produced two albums. Participants love his easy going teaching style and learning his unique compositions.

JEFF NARELL

Our most seasoned faculty at the Festival of Steel. With over ten summers with the Festival, Jeff brings a familiar face and a friendly vibe that can't be matched! His unique compositions and arrangements, sometimes, sometimes with hints of Latin-American grooves, are always sure to delight the participants.

KEITH MOONE

You will be working one-on-one with pan builder Keith Moone - with over 10 years experience studying under Ellie Mannette - who will take you through the entire building process from how to sink your pan all the way to shaping your notes and a rough tuning. He will perform the final tuning of your instrument, and because we want everyone that is participating to have an unforgettable experience, you get to keep the pan you build!

DAVE LONGFELLOW

Instructing the Beginner Lab Band each morning, Dave Longfellow returns to give first-time-players and experienced players, alike, a real "crash course" in pan, regardless of instrument or experience.

Festival Staff

The Festival of Steel would not be possible without the generous help from our staff!

During the festival, the staff do all of the behind the scenes work to keep the festival running. When the staff members are not busy setting up drums, running errands, or preparing for masterclasses, they can be found playing in the various bands filling in parts and ensuring rehearsal runs smoothly.
